WSM87: Adaptive. Quiet. Flexible.

Aspects such as comfort and safety are becoming increasingly important in the rail sector. In particular, noise exposure at stations and stops is being viewed more critically by both passengers and local residents. For this reason, operators and manufacturers are challenged to develop solutions that ensure safety while creating a more pleasant acoustic environment.

With the new WSM87, TSL-ESCHA introduces a sounder that meets exactly these requirements. It ensures maximum safety with adaptive sound level adjustment, barrier-free usability, and reliable signals. In doing so, it sets new benchmarks for acoustic warning systems in rail transport.

Adaptive sound level adjustment, flexible signals, and dynamic orientation tones for optimal user experience:

The WSM87 dynamically adapts its volume to the surrounding environment. Starting at just 45 dB, comparable to the hum of a refrigerator or a quiet conversation in a library, the integrated microphone reacts. This ensures that the warning sound provides subtle acoustic guidance in quiet situations, while remaining clear and distinct in noisy environments.

This adaptation results in a noticeable reduction of noise exposure for residents and passengers, while ensuring maximum safety, as warning signals can never be overlooked. It is precisely this balance between safety and quiet that makes the WSM87 a key component of modern mobility.

Up to 15 different tones, melodies, or voice outputs can be parameterized to customer specifications. This allows operators and transport companies to tailor acoustic communication to their vehicle fleet and specific operational conditions. Whether it is a door-closing warning, voice announcement, or melodic signal, the WSM87 guarantees clear, barrier-free signaling in compliance with the current TSI PRM (EU) 2023/1694.

Beyond this flexibility, the sounder impresses with its robust design. The IP67 rating and wide operating temperature range of –40 to +80 °C ensure reliable performance even under extreme conditions. All relevant rail standards, including EN 50155 and EN 45545-2, are fully met. Additionally, the flat design with only 3 mm installation height enables seamless integration into the vehicle design, suitable for both new vehicles and retrofit projects.

Reduced parameterization time

Operators also benefit from quick and easy parameterization, significantly reducing commissioning time. At the same time, tighter tolerances ensure consistent, high-quality acoustic output. Dynamic orientation tones further enhance usability, making the overall travel experience more comfortable.

The WSM87 is therefore not just a sounder, but a central component for increased safety, reduced noise, and greater acceptance of rail transport. It is a solution that improves the travel experience and paves the way toward a future of comfortable and safe mobility.
